![]() ![]() Then remove the dome light fuse for a minute to reset the computer, and see if any codes return when you drive the car. When you find it, jump the blue/yellow to black wired pins, and make a note of the code that flashes out. At some point (and maybe for your car) this connector was moved forward by the passenger (right side) headlight, so you may want to look for it there. The diagnostic connector in these cars was dangling on 4 or 6 wires just in front of the battery in the earlier cars - if you look for a tiny white box with a black plastic top on it - 4 of those wires will be blue/yellow, blue/red, purple and black. LOOZNUTS please post a few detailed pics of what was machined if you have them available.Welcome to the forum!! If you have a federal car, your CEL may be on either because you have a code (either current or in memory) in the computer, or else because your service engine soon function has tripped - which it does at an even number of miles, like 100,000, etc. *I have never installed the Sport or 1999 on up calipers/rotors on a Samurai and if any other changes or clarifications need to be made to this post please let me know and I can edit it. It sounds like what LOOZNUTS said is that the 1996-1998 Sidekick Sport & 1999-2005(?) 2 and 4 door Tracker/Vitara/Grand Vitara/XL-7 brake rotors and calipers will bolt on to the Samurai once you machine 9/16 off of the caliper mounts and studs may need to be used to mount any hysteer arms. As mentioned above, you will need to modify some hysteer arms or use studs when installing the 4 door larger brake calipers. Some of this is already in the FAQ, but to clarify for those that find this in the SEARCH:Ĩ9-98 Suzuki Sidekick and Geo Tracker 2 door brake calipers and rotors bolt right on to the Samurai and are a minimal upgrade.Ĩ9-98 Suzuki Sidekick and Geo Tracker 4 door brake calipers and rotors bolt right on to the Samurai and are a great upgrade which make a noticeable distance in stopping. The ones I got came from a Susuki Sidekick Sport 4x4 4 door.:mr-t: So now you know that the Sidekick, Geo Tracker years 94 to 97 I think. I got both calipers with brackets minus brake pads for $160 bucks. I you want to purchase the Subaru GL front calipers you can get them from a website called Styli'n trucks. I have not tried mine yeat as im putting discs in the rear as well. This is not a hard mod to do and it looks good and hopefully you have great stopping power. Another this is if you loose the disck hardware when you go the the parts store to buy it you have to ask for hardware for 96 Zusuki Grand Vitara 4x4 4 door or Sidekick XL. I dont have any pictures yet but will try posting some later. Also when you go to put the bracket on you must install it at the same time with rotor, otherwise you will not be able to install the rotor after you bolt one the caliper bracket. The reason being the you can not install the bolts because the arms are in the way. Another snag that you hit is if you have over the top steering you must use studs on the brackets instead of bolts. ![]() After machining some material off the bracket it bolted on with no problem. The funny thing is the the vented rotor is the same width and diameter as the Samurai rotors, but for some reason it hits the bracket. What you need to do is remove 9/16 of the caliper mounting brackets because the vented disc hits the bracket and does not turne. The yes is that the bolt pattern on the caliper bracket does bolt on the Samurai spindle but you have to modefy the bracket a bit. Some people were wondering if the front vented rotos and pads from a Sidekick sport or Geo Tracker 4x4 4 door work in the Samuarai and if they are a bolt one mod. Well hello Zuk enthusiasts name is Edgar and this is my first post. ![]()
